New Roots Haiti

Overview:

New Roots Haiti is dedicated to empowering parents to care for their families through education, employment, and nutrition assistance - using the farm as a tool to be able to create local sustainable jobs. The goal is to develop a plan to sustainably better utilize crop land, increasing farmers financial yields as well as creating a product that was not previously produced locally. Thus producing a locally grown protein source to be used in local feed rations for chickens and livestock.

Location:

Northern Haiti - Cap Haitien 

Objective:

AgGrandize Global will plant several acres of test plots to determine yields of different varieties of soybeans and high protein grain sorghum. The primary use of farmland is for sugar cane. It is stripping land of nitrogen, and does not provide much of an income for farmers. We want develop soybeans as an alternative crop which farmers are utilize to increase their potential incomes, and improve soil conditions through crop rotation.


Time:

November 2019 - October 2020 

Scope:
